We haven’t been sat around enjoying the fat of the land over Summer. It’s been busy in the world of plastering. In preparation for winter, many Walsall and Wolverhampton residents have been sprucing up their homes and enjoying the warmer weather in the comfort of modern surroundings. (If you’d like some interior design tips then visit our Facebook Page.)
It’s September now and you may have noticed a light chill in the air. Here on Church Hill in Wednesbury, we’ve certainly felt it over this weekend. Before long, there’ll be frost on the windows of our cars and we’ll all snap our boilers on and realise that they’re no longer working!
If you haven’t yet made plans to upgrade your insulation then now is the time to act. If you’re lucky you may find some useful deals at your local DIY store so make sure that September is insulation month!
- Check your loft insulation. How old is it? Modern insulation lasts indefinitely but always check. If the last resident did the insulation it could be decades old!
- Check doors and windows: You may want to buy rubber insulation tape. You can also purchase window insulation film to add further glazing. Remember, heavy drapes or blinds (or both) do a good job of insulating your windows.
- Check your radiators: foil lining behind radiators will reflect heat back into the room – particularly if your radiator is on an exterior wall.
- Pipe insulation: particularly outside pipes. A cracked pipe will be a real headache in the dead of winter!
Use our check-list ahead of the winter months and you could save a fortune!
